About Us

Polyethics Industries was founded in 1991 with one specific goal. Use 100% recycled plastic to make high quality industrial garbage bags. At the time we were the only garbage bag manufacturer to use 100% recycled material. Today, almost all industrial garbage bags are made from recycled plastic.

Over the years we have expanded our product lines but we have never lost sight of our initial goal. Using raw materials and creating plastics products in the most ethical way possible has been paramount to our success. In this day and age the environment is of the utmost concern to end users, retailers, distributors, and manufacturers alike. Since our inception we have shown our customers that using recycled plastic does not create an inferior product. We are the first manufacturer to use 100% recycled material to create 100% degradable products which are also 100% recyclable. We have proven that quality does not have to suffer to make the right choices for our environment. We believe if a product is going to be sent to a landfill, like an industrial garbage bag, it should be engineered to degrade in an environmentally friendly manner. This allows the products that were previously trapped inside the bag to degrade as well. In 2008, we started manufacturing products made with 100% recycled material and 100% degradable. We believe that this is the ethical way to manufacture a disposable product in today’s marketplace. Polyethics has achieved the perfect balance between being cost competitive and quality driven, while using a recycled, degradable product which is environmentally responsible. Polyethics Industries specializes in manufacturing environmentally friendly polyethylene film and bags. With no extra cost and without sacrificing quality, we offer a green solution. We are doing our part to help sustain a healthy planet. We encourage you to contact us to discuss how our product could benefit both your company and your environmental footprint.

Sustainability

We are very concerned about the environment at EcoPoly and we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint in three main categories over the next three year period.

Solid Waste

We re-use 100% of all the waste created in our manufacturing process and we recycle that waste in our own facility. It has always been our goal to have zero waste from our manufacturing operations and we have achieved this goal for the past 21 years. We have reduced the solid waste that is created within our office environment and our employee break areas by the end of 2016 from their current levels. We will achieve this reduction through smarter purchases and increased recycling efforts by both our company and our local municipalities.

Water

We do not use any water in our manufacturing process at all. Over the past two years we have replaced all of our gardens with plants and shrubs that do not require watering. The only water we use is in our washrooms and in our employee rest areas. We replaced all of our toilets with low flush units. We have reduce our overall water consumption by up to 40% since 2016 by replacing urinals and other fixtures with motion sensor activated fixtures.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG)

We are proud to declare that our manufacturing process does not have any emissions. A Kilogram (kg) of raw material used in our facility makes a Kilogram (kg) of finished goods without any by-products. However, we do rely heavily on electricity in our business and the power generation facilities in Ontario still rely heavily on coal for production.
In 2017, we have fully covered our 80,000 sq. ft. manufacturing plant in Orillia, Ontario with solar panels that are part of the “smart fit” program. While the power is sold back to the grid and we, in turn, buy our power from the grid, we are doing our part to provide green power to all consumers. We have lowered our GHG impact on the environment by at least 30% since 2018.
We will continue to look for ways to reduce our power consumption by moving to upgrades in our lighting, installing more timers and motion sensors, and most of all, purchasing some of our power through a green power supplier. We believe we can offset the increased cost of buying some green power by reducing our overall consumption.

Our commitment to the environment will not end with these reductions. As technologies permit we will upgrade our processes to reduce consumption of all items used in our factories.
